Obsidian is a natural glass created by the extremely rapid cooling of lava. The golden glow comes from microscopic bubbles and inclusions of minerals such as iron and magnetite.

Obsidian is known as a miner's nightmare because there are no natural cracks in the crystal, which has previously made it extremely difficult to mine. The first traces of the use of Obsidian are 9000 years old and were found in Mesopotamia. It was later used in abundance by the Mayans and Aztecs, who used it for both jewelry and weapons. In earlier Mexican culture, Obsidian was called Itzli, which directly translates to " god of stone ".
