How do I choose my crystals?
Crystals act as companions and companions to your soul, and once you have invited them into your life, it is a step on the journey of becoming more authentic and living more in tune with what you were born to do – even if you don't know what that is yet.
There are different ways to choose your crystals. Roughly speaking, there are two:
- Intuitive
- Based on intention/trait
Below these two methods lie even more, such as choosing by chakra, zodiac sign, energy, attribute, shape, space in the home, numerology, human design, and purpose. Let me elaborate on the most common ones here:
How do I choose my crystal based on my intuition?
Following your intuition and getting to know it is, for me, a declaration of love for myself and an act that greatly strengthens my self-love, my self-confidence and my self-esteem. I truly feel that I honor myself when I choose to listen to my gut feeling.
When you follow your intuition, you teach yourself that you are important and that your opinions matter. You learn to feel your boundaries - and set them.
It shows yourself that you are valuable because you listen to and act on what you feel.
I usually say that listening to your intuition is the biggest declaration of love you can give yourself. It shows that you take yourself seriously and take ownership of your own life.
I would basically recommend that you choose your crystal by listening to your intuition. I believe that when you are attracted to a crystal, it is because your body is so insanely smart that it communicates to you that you need the particular crystal you are attracted to.
When you follow your intuitive feeling, you show that you take yourself and your body's signals seriously.
Being attracted to a crystal can manifest itself in different ways. It can be from an aesthetic point of view, where it is the immediate beauty that attracts, or from the feeling you get in your body when you look at it. It doesn't matter why you are attracted to a crystal - the body is the body and allows itself to be attracted to what you need most.
How do I choose a crystal based on Chakra?
Chakra means wheel in Sanskrit, and it refers to energy centers in the body that correspond to our nerves and organs. Chakras house our emotional and physical well-being. Just like crystals, chakras also vibrate at different frequencies, and those frequencies can change depending on the conditions that apply to the respective chakra.
You can work with the chakras individually, but I recommend starting at the root chakra and then – and from the bottom up – working your way up to the other chakras. Here I describe the 7 traditional chakras, all of which are equally important:

Neck
Forehead
and Crown
Working with crystals and chakras is relatively simple, as each chakra is linked to a specific color that balances its energy:
Red:
Associated with black, brown or dark red crystals
For example: Smoky Quartz, Black Tourmaline, Black Onyx, Hematite, Bloodstone, Garnet, Red Jasper, Natural Agate, Orthoceras, Red Calcite, Obsidian, Shungite, Dalmatian Jasper, Aragonite, Sandrose, Wood Agate, Pyrite, Larvikite
Hara:
Tied to orange crystals
For example: Yellow Aventurine, Orange Calcite, Amber, Carnelian, Mookaite, Sunstone, Tiger's Eye and Orange Selenite
Solar Plexus:
Associated with yellow crystals
For example: Citrine, Amber, Yellow Calcite, Tiger's Eye, Pyrite, Agate, Sunstone and Honey Calcite
Heart:
Tied to green and pink crystals
Eg: Green Fluorite, Green Aventurine, Emerald, Fuchsite, Flower Agate, Rose Quartz, Jade, Cobalto Calcite, Kunzite, Seraphinite, Malachite, Prehnite, Unakite and Green Calcite
Neck:
Attached to light blue crystals
For example: Blue Calcite, Aquamarine, Blonde Agate, Angelite, Chrysocolla, Amazonite, Turquoise, Larimar, Kyanite, Apatite, Sodalite, Azurite and Celestite
Forehead:
Associated with indigo and purple crystals
For example: Amethyst, Lapis Lazuli, Labradorite, Sodalite, Azurite, Lepidolite and Indigo Fluorite
Crown:
Associated with white, transparent and violet crystals
For example: Herkimer Diamond, Rock Crystal, Opal, Apophyllite, Selenite, Howlite, Moonstone, Lepidolite, Ametrine, Fluorite, Amethyst and Labradorite

How do I choose my crystal based on my zodiac sign?
Whether you only know your sun sign, what we commonly call your zodiac sign, or whether you know your entire horoscope, you can use it to promote the amazing qualities you possess, while at the same time becoming aware of the challenging aspects of your personality and thereby adjusting them.
To use crystals, it doesn't matter whether you know your entire birth chart or just fragments.
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: YOU CAN CHOOSE CRYSTALS THAT DO NOT IMMEDIATELY CORRESPOND TO YOUR ZODIAC SIGN, BECAUSE WE ALL MADE UP OF ALL DIFFERENT ZODIAC SIGNS CROSSED AROUND. SOME ARE JUST MORE DEFINED THAN OTHERS.

How do I choose my crystal based on properties?
There may be times in life when you are not in touch with your intuition and your gut feeling and have difficulty making a choice – or you just need extra support and need to know that you are doing it “right”. Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, and here it can be really nice to choose based on the known properties of the crystal.
By choosing crystals based on their properties, you can target your choices to match your specific needs and goals. For example, if you are seeking balance and harmony, you can choose crystals like Amethyst , which is known for its calming energy. If you are looking to increase your energy and creativity, Citrine or Carnelian may be ideal choices.
Understanding the properties of crystals also allows you to experiment with their uses and combinations. You can tailor your crystal practice to meet specific goals, challenges, or desires.

How do I choose my crystal based on its shape?
There are many different crystal shapes, both from nature and with human intervention. Raw and polished crystals work equally well – a grinding does not affect crystals on the energetic level, but it changes the way the crystal sends the energy out to you. Therefore, it can be very good to look at what kind of energy you are looking for in your home – and then choose the shape of the crystal accordingly.
Raw crystals : Sends out the energy in its completely natural form, and is therefore enormously potent and rich in energy.
Crystal clusters : Sends energy out from all points of the crystal, distributing it evenly in all directions. It is especially good for use in living rooms where energy needs to be spread around.
Geodes : The crystal's cavities amplify, collect and release energy slowly, and the natural energy will be evenly distributed as with clusters.
Bullets : Spheres emit energy evenly in all directions, and symbolize wholeness.
Towers : Crystal towers work a bit like a wifi router because it generates a lot of intense energy that is pushed up and out.
Pyramids : Amplifies the energy in five directions – i.e. through all the tips.
